Ambassador Chen Xiaodong’s Remarks at a Donation Ceremony at Bramely Child Welfare Tshwane
2023/05/29

Your Excellency Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and People with Disabilities,

Your Honorable Director Nina De Caires,

Your Honorable Manager Caren Malherbe,

My Dear friends and the lovely Children with Bramley,

Good afternoon!

It is my great pleasure to come to Bramely Child Welfare Tshwane as we are about to celebrate the June 1 International Children’s Day.

First of all, I would like to express my profound respect to all educators and staff at Bramley for your care, love, and support that is most crucial for the children here.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between South China and China.

Under the joint leadership of successive leaders of our two countries, especially President Xi Jinping and President Ramaphosa, our cooperation in various areas reached fruitful results, which brought tangible benefits to the two peoples.

As a good friend, partner, comrade and brother of South Africa, the Chinese side attaches great importance to supporting the cause for children and youth in South Africa.

Professor Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, has always cared about African children and youth.

In recent years, under the guidance of Professor Peng Liyuan, the Chinese side donated many batches of school and COVID response supplies to South African children and young people.

Our cooperation in this regard fully demonstrated our joint commitment to the internationalist cause of loving and caring for children.

As part of International Children's Day events, Professor Peng Liyuan and the Organization of African First Ladies for Development jointly launched a China-Africa joint action that is Warm Children’s Hearts.

The goal of the joint action is to show love and care for our children to see you grow up healthy and lead a happy life.

In order to implement Professor Peng Liyuan’s initiative, the Chinese Embassy in South Africa is donating a batch of food supplies to the institution today.

That is to convey Professor Peng Liyuan's love and care for South African children and to show our readiness to advance children’s rights and interests.

The Chinese side is ready to work with South African friends from all communities, including Minister Dlamini-Zuma, to continue to improve South African people’s livelihoods and social development, so that our cooperation benefit more people and we can jointly build a high-level China-South Africa community with a shared future.

Dear Children at Bramley,

I hope you will all grow up health and perform well at school, so that when you graduate in the future, you can give back to society and contribute to South Africa’s development.

I also hope that more and more South African young people will get to know and understand China more, maybe travel to and study in China in the future, so you can serve as a bridge of friendship between our two peoples. I thank you all.
