Ambassador Wu Peng Visited Chinese Communities in South Africa

On 31 December 2024, Ambassador Wu Peng went to Chinatown Johannesburg to visit the Chinese communities there as New Year’s Day and the Spring Festival were around the corner. He held talks with Chinese representatives from the business and other circles, and presented to them“Spring Festival Packets” as gifts provided by the Embassy. The Ambassador was accompanied by Minister Zheng Bingkai of the Embassy and Consul General Pan Qingjiang and Deputy Consul General Zhou Yujiang of the Consulate General in Johannesburg.

Ambassador Wu conveyed the CPC Central Committee’s care for the overseas Chinese. He learnt in detail about their business and personal safety, found out about their demands and suggestions for work, and extended his festive blessings to all of them. Ambassador Wu praised their contributions to promoting Chinese culture and strengthening China-South Africa relations. He expressed his hope that all of them would increase safety awareness, act in accordance with laws and regulations, and actively contribute to the local community. He hoped they would further embrace patriotism, love for the homeland, solidarity, mutual help and hard work, and continue to contribute to the great cause of advancing reunification, building China into a great country and achieving national rejuvenation. Ambassador Wu said the Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in South Africa will continue to implement the fundamental tenet of “diplomacy for the people”, provide good services for them, and make every effort to protect their safety and legitimate rights and interests.


The Chinese communities warmly welcomed Ambassador Wu. They expressed their determination to carry forward their fine traditions, take an active part in fostering China-South Africa friendship and cooperation, and contribute to China’s national development.
