From June 11 to 18, 2023, a 7-member delegation led by Professor Matsabisa of University of Free State, consisting of delegates from Department of Science and Innovation, South African Health Products Regulatory Agency, Free State Legislature, Rhodes University and National Unitary Professional Association of African Traditional Health Practitioners of South Africa, successfully visited China.

During their stay in China, the delegation visited Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, National Medical Products Administration, Beijing Tongrentang Group, National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other organizations. Through their visits, the delegation had a comprehensive understanding of the construction of Chinese traditional medicine diagnosis and treatment service institutions, the registration and supervision of traditional Chinese medicine, the development of traditional Chinese medicine, and the higher education of traditional Chinese medicine. The Chinese organizations expressed their willingness to support the development of traditional medicine in South Africa, and further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in this field to make joint contribution to the global development of traditional medicine.
