June 1st is International Children's Day. Ambassador Tian Xuejun and his wife were invited to attend the completion and handover ceremony of the "China House" in Baphumelele Children's Home donated by South Africa Soong Ching Ling Foundation, Cape Town. Over 100 People attended the ceremony including the House Chairperson of the National Assembly of South Africa Frolick, Chairperson of the Select Committee on Security and Justice Ximbi, Deputy Minister of Tourism Xasa, Cape Town Mayor de Lille, Provincial Minister of Community Safety of Western Cape Plato, Provincial Minister of Social Development of Western Cape Fritz, Chinese Consul-General in Cape Town Liang Shugen, Chairman of South Africa Soong Ching Ling Foundation Chen Qing, the children of Baphumelele Children's Home and community volunteers.

Ambassador Tian highly commended South Africa Soong Ching Ling Foundation which has long been committed to the benefits of women and children in South Africa. He said over the years, the overseas Chinese in South Africa have been living in harmony with the local people through mutual help and common development, having made positive contribution to building the Rainbow Nation. The "China House" is a holiday gift for the children. It stands as a testimony to the friendship of Chinese especially the Chinese people in South Africa towards South African people and a vivid annotation of the Year of China in South Africa. He hoped that the good deed of Soong Ching Ling Foundation could encourage more people to care about social well-being and devote to charity.
