The Chinese Embassy in South Africa Holds the Governance of China and Africa Relations Symposium

As one of the major events in the Year of China in South Africa, the Governance of China and Africa Relations Symposium co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in South Africa and Human Sciences Research Council of South Africa was successfully held on Sep 17th. Ambassador Tian Xuejun, Deputy Secretary-General of ANC Jessie Duarte, Former Minister in the Presidency Essop Pahad together with over 100 guests and scholars from China and South Africa attended the symposium.

   

In his remarks, Ambassador Tian pointed out that the book The Governance of China has opened an important window for the international community to understand today's China. This bestseller talks about what is going on and what is going to happen in China, as well as what will China's development contribute to the world.

   

Ambassador Tian answered the first two questions with four English letter "R"s, namely Reform, Rule of law, Ruling party's self-purification and the Renewal of the Chinese nation. He also pointed out that China has always been an important engine for world economic growth and will firmly take the path of peaceful development. China is willing to share its development experience with the world especially developing countries.

   

The symposium is held in Pretoria with two parallel sessions in Durban and Cape Town, which was warmly responded by the people from academia and business community.

   

During the symposium, Ambassador also gave an interview to SABC, sharing his views on China's economy, RMB rates and China's cooperation with Africa etc.
