On Sep 29th, Ambassador Tian Xuejun and his wife held the National Day reception, warmly celebrating the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Minister of Trade and Industry of South Africa Rob Davies attended the reception and delivered a speech. Over 600 guests from all walks of life also joined the celebration.

In his address, Ambassador Tian said today, standing at a new historical starting point, China is marching towards the realization of the "two centenary goals" and the Chinese dream of the great renewal of the Chinese nation. China has the capability and confidence to succeed in creating a new "economic transformation miracle" and making our new contribution to the world economic growth. With years of development, China-South Africa political trust, economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges have advanced in parallel. The bilateral relations have reached the highest level in history. In the coming December, the summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be held in South Africa. It will surely map out the grand blueprint for China-Africa relations, promote the transformation and upgrading of China-Africa respective development and boost the all-round development of China-Africa new type of strategic partnership.

On behalf of the South African government and people, Minister Davies warmly congratulated on the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He said China and South Africa enjoy a time-honored friendship. The two sides have maintained frequent high-level exchanges and deep political trust. The Five-to-Ten Year Strategic Programme for Cooperation will take the bilateral relations to a new height. There is a great potential for both sides to cooperate in a variety of areas including blue economy, industrialization, tourism etc. The upcoming FOCAC summit will provide new impetus for Africa's integration and industrialization.
