2013/01/25

TO: The Honourable Maite Nkoana-Mashabane
Minister of International Relations and Co-operation of the Republic of South Africa
Pretoria

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of South Africa, I wish to extend to the honourable Maite Nkoana-Mashabane my warm congratulations and best wishes.

In the past 15 years, the relationship between China and South Africa has been making huge strides and has experienced comprehensive and rapid growth. The two sides have enjoyed frequent high-level exchanges and enhanced political mutual trust.

The practical co-operation in trade and economic areas has been expanded and cultural and people-to-people exchanges are more dynamic. The co-ordination and consultation between our countries in international affairs have been strengthened.

The international landscape is now experiencing complicated and profound changes. China and South Africa are both at a crucial stage of development. We are faced with rare historic opportunities and promising prospects in developing our bilateral relationship.

I will co-operate closely with the honourable minister to take the 15th anniversary as an opportunity to enhance our friendship and co-operation and push for greater development in the China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership.
