On 22 January, Ambassador Wu Peng made a courtesy call on Ms Pemmy Majodina, South African Minister of Water and Sanitation. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister David Mahlobo, Director-General Sean Phillips and other officials of the ministry.

Ambassador Wu Peng underscored the importance of water infrastructure in China-South Africa cooperation. He noted that China is ready to work with South Africa to improve local water infrastructure for the benefit of people's livelihoods.
Minister Majodina expressed her gratitude to China for its strong support to South Africa's water conservancy. She introduced that water infrastructure is a priority of the current Government of National Unity. China is an important partner of South Africa, and South Africa is willing to strengthen cooperation with China to upgrade water infrastructure and solve the water crisis.
