Ambassador Wu Peng Attends "Innovation, Openness, Shared Development" Global Dialogue

On 27 October, Ambassador Wu Peng attended and delivered remarks at the "Innovation, Openness, Shared Development" Global Dialogue held at the University of Johannesburg. South Africa’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Blade Nzimande, and Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Alvin Botes, also delivered speeches. The event brought together nearly 200 representatives from South Africa's political parties, government departments, parliament, business community, think tanks, universities, media and other sectors.

Ambassador Wu briefed the attendees on the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He noted that the session represented another comprehensive mobilisation and strategic deployment to advance the Chinese path to modernisation. It demonstrated the resolve of the CPC Central Committee, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, to unite and lead the entire Party and all ethnic groups across the nation in writing a new chapter in the pursuit of the two miracles of sustained, rapid economic growth and long-term social stability. The session also sent a positive signal of China’s continued commitment to sharing opportunities and promoting common development with all nations. It was stated at the session that China will further expand opening-up, foster innovation-driven trade growth, deepen two-way investment cooperation, and advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. Ambassador Wu stressed that China’s sustained development will undoubtedly inject greater certainty and positive energy into the world.

Attendees spoke highly of the Fourth Plenary Session, and commended how China’s comprehensive and rapid development contributes positively to the growth of South Africa and the world. They hoped to see more practical cooperation between the two countries across all sectors, which will play an active role in advancing world peace and development.

During the event, Ambassador Wu engaged in an interactive Q&A session with the audience. He elaborated on China’s achievements, governance experience, and the outcomes of practical cooperation between China and South Africa, which were warmly received.
