On 11 November, Ambassador Wu Peng attended and delivered remarks at the launch of the new book Xi Jinping and the Global South by David Monyae, Director of the Centre for Africa-China Studies at the University of Johannesburg. Other speakers included William Baloyi, Chief Director of the Government Communication and Information System, Antoinette Slabbert, Chairperson of the National Press Club, and Refilwe Phaswana-Mafuya, Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Innovation at the University of Johannesburg. The event brought together over 200 representatives from the South African government, political parties, business community, think tanks, media outlets and universities.

Participants spoke highly of the book. They commended the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and China's important contributions to the Global South. They expressed hope that China and South Africa will further deepen exchanges and cooperation across various fields, to play a positive role in world peace and development.
