On 3 December, the promotional event for the English edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume V) was successfully held in Johannesburg. The event was jointly organised by the State Council Information Office of China, China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, and the Chinese Embassy in South Africa. Speeches were delivered by Mr Mo Gaoyi, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committeeand Director of the State Council Information Office of China, Maropene Ramokgopa, Second Deputy Secretary-General of the African National Congress and Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Cedric Frolick, HouseChairperson of the National Assembly of South Africa, as well as Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Wu Peng. Nearly 200 representatives from South Africa's political parties, government departments, business communities, think tanks, universities, and media outlets attended the event.

In his address, Ambassador Wu Peng indicated how important it was to publish the English edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume V). He highlighted that the book systematically introduces President Xi Jinping's new thinking, ideas and strategies for governance, opening a new window for the South African people to gain a deeper understanding of contemporary China and the Communist Party of China. It also provides a key window for the international community to observe and understand China’s development, governance philosophy, and domestic and foreign policies. Ambassador Wu expressed hope that China and South Africa would use the opportunity to strengthen exchanges on governance experience, further advance friendship and practical cooperation, and better benefit the two peoples and people of the world.

Guests at the event commended the book for highlighting the global significance of China's path, governance, and philosophy, and offering valuable insights for countries to address current challenges and resolve development issues. They looked forward to the two countries deepening exchanges and cooperation across all fields, and playing a positive role in global peace and development.
