On June 12, Ambassador Wu Peng visited Chinese-owned businesses in areas including Mamelodi, Pretoria to conduct safety inspections and provide guidance. He was accompanied by Minister Zhou Maoyi and Counsellor and Consul General Liao Xiaoying.

Ambassador Wu was briefed in detail on the security situation of Chinese-owned businesses and their compliance with local laws and regulations. He noted that recent protests targeting foreign nationals have taken place in various parts of South Africa, leading to heightened security risks for Chinese-owned shops, some of which have already been affected.
Ambassador Wu urged members of the Chinese community to closely monitor the situation and heed security alerts, strengthen safety precautions, and strictly comply with local laws and regulations, especially in labor and employment. He encouraged them to maintain good relations with local communities and, when necessary, take precautionary measures such as temporarily closing businesses or suspending operations to ensure personal safety and property security.
Ambassador Wu called on Chinese community organizations to play an active role in issuing risk alerts, conducting safety patrols and inspections, and fostering mutual assistance among community members. The Embassy and Consulates-General will continue to make every effort to protect the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese nationals in South Africa.
During the visit, Ambassador Wu also distributed consular protection brochures to Chinese-owned businesses.

Members of the Chinese community expressed their appreciation for the Embassy's care and guidance. They pledged to enhance their risk awareness and prevention capacity, strictly comply with local laws and regulations in their business operations, and strengthen security precautions.
