On June 16, the Chinese Embassy in South Africa and the China–South Africa Youth Federation jointly hosted the launch of the book Xi Jinping and China–South Africa Relations: The Gen Z Youth Perspective and “The Future We Share: China–South Africa Youth Exchange Night”, in celebration of South Africa’s Youth Day.
The event was attended and addressed by Ambassador Wu Peng, Nomvula Mokonyane, First Deputy Secretary-General of the African National Congress, Mmapaseka Letsike, Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, and the authors of the book. More than 400 participants were present, including representatives from youth organizations such as the ANC Youth League, Congress of South African Students, South African Students Congress and South African Youth Business Chamber, as well as young representatives from Chinese enterprises, the Chinese community, and universities in South Africa.

In his remarks, Ambassador Wu noted that as South Africa marks the 50th anniversary of Youth Day, the publication of a book on Xi Jinping and China–South Africa relations by two young South African authors carries special significance . Drawing on the themes explored in the book, he highlighted the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Ambassador Wu noted that the Party has united and led the Chinese people in transforming China into a prosperous, equitable, and democratic country, which is the most powerful testament to China’s governance. Ambassador Wu encouraged young South Africans to study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and contribute to closer friendship between the youth of the two countries.
The participants spoke highly of the publication, noting that it offers a window for South Africans, especially the younger generation, to understand President Xi Jinping’s important ideas. They commended China's governance achievements as well as the unique role of youth exchanges in bilateral relations, and expressed hope that more young people would contribute to China–South Africa friendship and cooperation.

The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Young people from both countries engaged in lively interactions, and watched together a documentary entitled China’s Governance: The Gen Z Youth Perspective, which was produced by the China–South Africa Youth Federation during their visit to China.
