On July 7th, the "New Age"published remarks by spokesperson of Chinese Embassy on misinformation of China's Tibet. The full context is as follows:

Dear Editor,

This letter refers to the column essay titled "Chinese eliminate Tibetan culture" published on page 18 of the New Age on July 4th, which is based on total fabrication and flagrant misinformation on the history and current situation of China's Tibet, and demonstrates the author's ignorance and prejudice on this issue.

Tibet has been a part of Chinese territory since ancient times. Anyone familiar with the Tibetan history should know that starting from Yuan Dynasty (13th century), successive Chinese Central Governments have exercised uninterrupted effective sovereign jurisdiction over Tibet. Tibet

has never become an independent state. This is the historical fact that cannot be changed.

As for the real situation in Tibet, the Chinese people have the best say. Since Tibet was peacefully liberated over 65 years ago, it has registered unprecedented achievement in all its endeavors and witnessed great leap-forward in social and economic development. The region's GDP hit $150 billion in 2015, 1000 times that in the 1950s. Its population has increased from 1 million to today's 3.18 million, of which 90% are Tibetans. People's average life expectancy has risen from 35.5 years to 68 years. Now the Region has more than 110,000 officials from minority groups, accounting for 70% of its total number of officials. Tibet has realized 15-year free education from preschool to senior middle school. The government has covered all tuition, food, and boarding expenses for the poor students. Tibetan language education is efficiently protected. Bilingual teaching in both Tibetan and Chinese is carried out in all schools in Tibet. Anyone without political bias nor malicious intentions will acknowledge the progress Tibet has achieved over the past 6 decades.

The 14th Dalai Lama is neither a pure religious figure, nor an "advocate for Tibet freedom", but rather a political exile that has long been engaged in anti-China separatist campaigns under the cloak of religion. Dalai is the largest serf-owner in the old Tibet. He enjoyed the obedience of officials and owned all land, livestock and serfs, before he fled to India. The Dalai clique openly incites and connives innocent people to follow self-immolation with the motive to justify their separatist activities, which is itself a serious violation of human rights. The Dalai issue is not an ethnic issue, nor an issue of religion or human rights, but a major issue concerning China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Tibetan affairs fall entirely within China's domestic affairs which brook no foreign interference. The Chinese Government will continue to pursue and improve the system of regional ethnic autonomy, support the social and economic development of Tibet, and take all measures to safeguard the fundamental interests of people of all ethnic groups.
