On August 24, the Embassy’s Minister Qin Zhanpeng attended and addressed a symposium commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The symposium was hosted by South Africa Chinese Community and Police Cooperation Center, and over 30 representatives from the local Chinese community participated.

Minister Qin stressed that the great victory of China's War of Resistance Against Japan was not only for the Chinese people, but also for the people of the world. The Communist Party of China played a pivotal role in the victory. This year also marks the 80th anniversary of Taiwan’s return to China. We must remember history, cherish peace, uphold international fairness and justice, and safeguard the fruits of victory. Minister Qin expressed the hope that overseas Chinese in South Africa will continue to uphold the overall interests of the Chinese nation, abide by laws and regulations, contribute to society, and effectively communicate China’s stories to all sectors in South Africa. He encouraged them to strive for advancing the all-round strategic cooperative partnership between China and South Africa in the new era, the great cause of national reunification, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Overseas Chinese representatives attending the meeting pledged to uphold the great spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and transform historical memory into an inexhaustible driving force for cooperation and development.
