From May 14 to 16, Minister Qin Zhanpeng with the Chinese Embassy in South Africa led a working group to Mpumalanga Province, where they provided on-site consular services and visited Chinese-funded companies as well as overseas Chinese businesses.

With the assistance of local Chinese community organizations, the working group offered on-site guidance for over 10 Chinese nationals on preparing application materials, increased their preventive consular protection awareness, and distributed materials including the Consular Protection and Assistance Guide of China. The group also visited several Chinese businesses in towns including Mbombela, Carolina and Elukwatini to learn about the living and working conditions of local Chinese nationals, and provided guidance on their safety and lawful and compliant operations. Members of the local Chinese community expressed their gratitude for the Embassy.

The working group also visited the Goldwind wind farm project in Bethal to learn about the company’s operations and project construction progress. The group called on the company to increase its safety awareness, adhere to compliant operations, and actively fulfill its social responsibilities to achieve long-term development.
