Egypt Backs China's Silk Road Initiative
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi asserted that Egypt backs the Chinese initiative for reviving the historical Silk Road, saying Cairo is fully ready for cooperation in this respect as soon as possible.
Sisi's remarks were made at the beginning of his official talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at China's Great Hall of the People.
Sisi said this road has been a historical route for China's trade to the world and Egypt has been a cornerstone of Chinese traders' trips to various world countries.
The President said this initiative coincides with Egypt's launching of the Suez Canal Corridor that will further push forward international trade movement.
Sisi asserted that Egypt welcomes the Chinese president's initiative to raise Egyptian-Chinese relations up to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.
